Yo I'm new to the Honda world so y'all help me out please. I got a 94 GMC Sonoma. I That I blew the motor in. And I want to swap a B20 CRV motor into it. Using the Chevy transmission. I know a got a lot of fab work ahead of me. But hell I got the time. I work as a mechanic so I'll have the equipment. I just need to know if anybody has done this or not. I love my little truck. I just don't wanna do an LS swap, and I wanna keep the fuel mileage.

 

B-series is a no-go. there are many reasons but the best is the CCW crank rotation.

K-series is doable and available in the second gen and newer CR-V if that matters to you. not the particular one most would use for a swap, but with fuel economy as a goal it would be a good candidate. adapter plate kits are out there, but I think most are made to fit the 700r4 style bell housing. not sure if your 2.2L S15/Sanoma shared that pattern. There are plenty of K-swapped RWD cars out there, Miatas being one of the popular ones. you could probably copy one of those builds and fabricate your own Sanoma-specific versions of the kits contents.

 

The s10 and s15 style transmission are the same in the 5spd. I've replaced it once before. I'm using the standard transmission. Not the auto. And B20s are more available near me. Plus my friend has multiple B series swapped civics. I'm using his Brain for the motor stuff cause that's what he's good with. I have my own d16z6 that I could use but B's a betterby miles. So in order to do this swap I'd have to use a k series engine?
