Default K24z7 problem with the oil pump chain

Looking for some help, after putting the k20a2 modified oem Honda oil pump on the chain won’t fit too short? Any reason someone knows why?

I don't have an answer but are the number of teeth on the chain sprockets the same?

I suspect this has something to do with the oil system on the Z7 routing oil in a substantially different way than the older K stuff. The oil filter on the pan vs block.

WHAT ?!? The oil pump chains are NOT the same. You need a K20A2 chain to go with the A2 oil pump. The original Z7 oil pump gear is smaller in diameter than the A2 gear and this is the reason that the chain doesn't fit.

The oil pump chain part number that you need is 13441-PCX-004. What you have on your original Z7 engine is a 13441-R40-A01. Make sure you use the correct chain guide as well.

Sorry, I mis-typed the part number. It is corrected in my original post. The chain should be 64 links. In your picture, it appears to be the proper length. You will have to place the chain over the gear BEFORE you install/bolt down the pump... tipping the pump gear toward the crank gear while slipping on the chain and then bringing the pump back down toward the block into the proper position is the best way to do this. The proper chain WILL NOT slip over the crank and oil pump chain gears when the pump is bolted down to the block.
