Hello everybody. Recently my civic was stolen out of my driveway (for the second time) and I found it a week later (for the second time) parked and abandoned a few miles from my house. When I recovered it, there was a key stuck in the ignition and the car wouldn't start. I decided my first step was to replace the ignition lock cylinder since I couldn't remove the key. In my attempt to replace it I came across an issue, and I cannot seem to find a solution to it. Before wiggling the current ignition lock cylinder out I'm suppose to remove a small screw at the base of it, which didn't seem to be there. I just figured maybe it had gone missing and unreplaced over the years so I grabbed my pick, depressed the button and tried wiggling it out. It wouldn't give. So I removed the cap from the ignition lock cylinder to check and I find that there is in fact a screw in there. From the outside it looks like a hole, but from the inside there is definitely a screw in there. Perhaps this job was done before and someone used a different type of screw but I've never seen this before. Does anyone know what type of tool this requires or have any suggestions? Thank you.
From the outside it looks hollow Inside you can see the screw
That was definitely my first thought. I used all the sizes I had on it, the smallest being a 5/64 and even that was too big. I visited all my local hardware and auto stores and asked as well and none of them had anything smaller than what I had.
