Maintenance & Fuel Economy
What's up people.
My Mrs and I own a 2008/2009 Civic Sedan Auto 1.8 Vxi.
We do mostly town driving at the moment. But I feel like we're getting crazy low mileage.
The car has 180k KM at the moment and is about to go for a service.
We get roughly 300-325km on the 50L tank. I know Autos are quite heavy and we (try) drive nicely. Keeping the revs as low as possible (atleast I am).
Would this mean I need to look at replacing oil filters etc and would it be worthwhile taking it for tuning/software etc.
Appreciate any assistance 👌🏻

maybe just give it a little tlc, I'm pretty sure if your oil is getting old, change it. oil filters are always replaced with oil changes, the air filter being too dirty woukd affect mileage. maybe add some fuel treatment next time you fill up. give the ole injectors a bath. make sure your blinker fluid is still clear
tell the wife to drive like you and keep the revs down and accelerate slow. moving from a stop uses the most fuel. use A/C on the highway with windows up. ac off in the city with windows down. windows down on the highway causes drag on the car and uses more gas than the ac motor being engaged. in the city drag doesn't affect the car as much so the ac uses more gas. fill your tank with supreme every once in a while and take advantage of the gas additives they put in it. though its probably cheaper to just do it yourself with some Lucas fuel treatment. the price of gas these days. onltmy other thing I can think of is maybe the egr valve isn't working properly. would normally throw a code, same as the o2 sensor. so check if you have codes.
anyone else have any ideas?
