Rebuilding tranny? and FD suggestion
Hello. My DB8 JDM B18C 98 spec is currently at 130000km. The tranny is actually okay, only occasionally hard to shift to reverse gear.
I always heard of "rebuilding" the tranny. But what actually is rebuilding the tranny? Is it replacing all the bearing, synchros, gears, oil seals? What should I be expecting from a rebuilding?
But I had a look at the Honda parts diagram, many parts in the tranny are out of production. So are those parts meant to be reused? Or aftermarket parts are the only choice?
Also, the original FD of the tranny is 4.785, is it wise to swap to 4.4 (96 Spec)? Since I drive it like a corolla and cruising it on a highway is noisy due to ~3800 RPM at 100km/h. And does that mean more engine wear and poorer gas mileage in the long run if I cruise with 100km/h?
Because of that, I mostly drive at ~70km/h on highway to keep ~2500RPM.
Any suggestion is much appreciated!!!

My DC2R only ran 80000km and also has difficulty going into reverse. I thought this was normal since the gear doesn't have syncro? Otherwise my gearbox also has issues...
