2017 Pilot - Entire AC system replacement $$$$$
Hey all,
I just got back from the dealership after dropping off my 2017 Pilot. The first diagnosis was the the o-rings had cracked and needed to be replaced. They quoted ~$1000.
After arriving home, they called to say that they found metal shards inside the AC, and the entire system needed to be replaced. They quoted just under $5000 for everything.
I know there's a lot to this, and that costs from the dealership are usually on the higher end, but this just seems excessive to me.
I'd appreciate any (constructive) input. Thanks in advance.

In April 2021, I had my 2017 Pilot's AC compressor (remanufactured) and drier assembly replaced for about $1900 at a local shop in Pierce County Washington.
If there are shards in the system, they will destroy the new compressor as well.
That’s why the whole system gets replaced, because they can’t guarantee to get the shards out of the lines, condenser, evaporator.
