Default Bought a 1999 civic EM1 EBP

Hi fellers, bought a nice em1 recently. Ls/vtec.
seller stated that it has an itr tranny. No Vin
Quick question.. rpm is at 3400 at 60mph
would that be accurate for an itr tranny?

It could be either a B16 trans or ITR. No vin could mean anything.

without the Vin. Exactly what I think too. That's why I posted this thread.
Would it be more helpful if i know the rpm in 80mph?
I'm sure there's a way to know what tranny it is without pulling it apart.

You could remove one of the axles and look at the differential and see if it has an lsd or not but that would only tell you if it's a non lsd b16.

The gearing is basically the same between 93-01 usdm b16, usdm type r trans and pre 98 jdm type r.

itr tranny should have lsd, and it labelled on the tranny as well. below the airbox.

ITR has the same gearing as the B16, but has the larger ring gear of the GSR.

You can look for the LSD, but to really know what you have, you'd have to open the transmission.

Best way
Pull one side axle check for lsd
if no lsd then b16 tranny more than likely
if lsd itr more than likely

3500 rpm is60mph on my b16/ and type r

NOPE. The only way to KNOW is pull the right side axle and look to see if there is a bar across the middle of the axle opening or it is a "straight through" design... if it is the former, it is almost definitely a B16A transmission. If it is the latter, it is likely an ITR transmission... or a B16A with an aftermarket LSD installed. So if it does have a LSD inside, then the only way to TRULY know what you have is to open up the transmission and examine the internals as suggested above.

So if you REALLY want to know... this is the path. This "easy button" stuff that you keep asking about simply doesn't guarantee the proper answer.

You could always jack up the car and spin a wheel with the gearbox in neutral. If the wheels spin opposite directions you definitely have an open diff. If they spin the same way you likely have a limited slip diff.

FWIW, the USDM B16 and ITR trans both had exactly the same gearing... just the B16A stack in a B18C case/diff. So even if you have a B16 trans with an aftermarket LSD you're at least as well off as if you had an ITR trans, unless someone put a phantom grip or some other garbage in there. 98+ JDM ITR trans are a different duck with a shorter FD and taller 4/5 gears.

Car looks great by the way.
