Default High idle, surging

I have a minime swap in an ef. Y8 head z6 intake. When Iacv is plugged in it revs up and idles at 2.5k rpm’s. When unplugged it surges from 1,200-1,500 rpm’s

when I unplug tps nothing changes.

When I cover throttle body with hand it dies instantly

I’ve searched everywhere for a vacuum leak and can’t find one. I’ve sprayed everything I can think of with carb cleaner no idle raise

throttle body and cable is adjusted as low as it can be

If it's running at 2500 on a cold start that rpm is normal for warm up and iacv is working. Once warmed up it should drop to normal operating rpm idle range 750-950 rpm. Unless your problems the motor running constant at 2500 rpm all the time for idle after warm up.. then maybe the iacv is stuck? They do get carbon inside past its screen inside the body.. Could try cleaning it if so..?? Or there's something else going on..

The rpm’s never drop down, I unscrewed it and sprayed carb fluid into it, let it sit, then reinstalled. Is there a deeper clean I should do?

Have you tried cheating it by adjusting the set screw on the throttle body and turning it in while it's idling to lower the rpm? Doing that has helped me on numerous engines that had a high idle and would surge.. since the motor is not stock the factory setting may not apply to your new combination of parts to make that motor.

yeah I’ve adjusted the screw many times. So weird. I also hooked a vacuum gauge up and and pretty steady at like 17 so I wouldn’t thing there would be a vacuum leak idk

I forgot.. if you have a FITV under the throttle body, you can try cleaning that aswell. There are videos on how to..

I’m not seeing one, I just asked the previous owner and apparently it’s a d16y8 throttle body… idk if that’s an issue or what

It's mounted to the side of the intake manifold under the throttle body if you happen to have one. It will have a coolant line feeding it. Some do some don't.

The last thing I can think of is maybe try properly testing your TPS sensor. Always hear about those causing all sorts of problems. Supposedly can cause high idle and not throw a cel..

Normal cold start rpm should be around 1700-1900 rpm.

OP put your finger over the holes in the throttle body. Does the car die?
