Default 2016 Civic Shifter **** replacement issue.

So the plastic rod in the shifter handle has to be manually pulled or pushed in to shift gears and lock in the gear or to take out the key on my 2016 Honda Civic

Was the shift **** removed/replaced before? Sounds more like an issue with the shift ****.
