Building H23/Vtec ???? or H24 or H25 or......
Hey guys.. what's your take on building an H23/Vtec? I'll thinking of either using an H22 block with H23 crank, forged pistons and rods... or just use an H23 block instead.. What would be better? Does the H23 block have oil squirters?
I know the rod to stroke ratio isn't all that good.. So what about a deck plate? Would that help with displacement?

Mine is fucked! Contibuting factors are a UR pulley and possible shitty H23 rods...either way my crank is broken...
Top Power has it...I'll know in a couple weeks. I'm actually considering destroking to 2.1L with the F20B crank to try and make more top end power.
Just don't rev it too high....I recommend better rods...

Grant Lockwood (who ran a H23a1 VTEC frank motor for years in World Challenge in a 5th gen prelude) said the stock rods were the strongest he has used, and used to blow aftermarket rods all the time....

yeah go across the street and play with my crank...it's fun!

If you're referring to Silver Star.. He's still here.

Okay the H23 block does not have oil squirters, but you can add them.
Some other people on here have said that with forged pistons oil squirters aren't really that necessary and the oil pressure may be beneficial elsewhere. I believe there are some clearance issues with H23 crank in an H22 block with the stock oilsquirters. They need to be modified to some extent.

Hey Satan,
I just noticed your numbers in your sig.. 203 160... Mine numbers were 185 163.. Hm.. I wonder if it was the extra 0.1L that made a difference in teh HP... But....what was done to the motor? stock? port adn polish???

Most likely the stage 3 cams and the fuel tuning done...if I had a V-AFC I could fine tune for more power...but anyways. I think it could have made a lot more power. Especially if we had tuned the cams...they were at stock settings.
How did you make 163 tq with an H22a?
Hm.. damn.. seems like alot of work for an extra 20hp..My motor was stock and I ran those numbers.. All I have is a ported intake manifold and cam gears.. I'm even running a chipped sohc ecu..

B00st owns.
Regarding the h23 vtec, save yourself a ton of trouble, time and money and just bore/sleeve your h22 block and you'll still get the increase of displacement to 2.3l without all of the other related work. If you are building for a roadrace or rally car, then they hybrid becomes more appealing; but for top end power it's a waste of effort, IMO.

Do you have a dyno chart you can post ???

Yeah again I wanna know how you made 163 of tq on a stock engine...

Like I said tuning wasn't completed....It should be making 230hp...oh well.

I have no idea how we got those numbers, but we dynoed at DPS... Satan, you might know where that is..
163tq uncorrected most likely.
185 hp . 163 ft-lbs (corrected) with just a ported intake manifold, cam gears , chipped ecu on a stock h22.... I don't think so.
