Noise in Cylinder Head After Valve Job and Head Gasket Replacement
Hi all, I just installed a cylinder head that had been sitting for at least 5 years that was good then but ended up resurfacing and replacing valve seals as well as lap the valves as there was some leakage. Installed the head today and the head is making this weird noise whenever I blip the gas. also seem like something is off when accelerating. if i gas it hard the car wont shift until high in the RPM's and the engine is loud. sounds like the vtec is not kicking in and the car is trying to engage it. This my first time doing head work like this. I torqued everything to the service manual. I replaced all gaskets including the vtec solenoid gasket. The cylinder head is a D16Y8 cylinder head from a 2000 civic ex auto. the engine in my car is from a 97 Civic ex auto. Not sure if there is a difference in the heads event though both engines are a D16Y8. Also did a compression test which came out to 180 PSI on all cylinders
Attached is a video of the noise in the head.
