96 integra Cooling fan only turns on when I turn on ac
First replaced the radiator because it cracked..then I noticed my fan not turning on and car running hot..hotter than usual and gets hot quick..So I know the fan works because It turns on! Well only with AC on..wether car is on/off. I’ve replaced the fan switch and coolant temp switch..and fan still not turning on..I removed the relay and fan won’t turn on so relay is good.I also swapped it out with the motor relay and nothing..all other fuses seem to be good
Also there is supposed to be 2 fans 1 kicks on to keep temp the other is for ac, if your missing the one for the temp, then that's why it won't kick on
Both cooling fans should run if the A/C is on (regardless of coolant temperature at the fan switch), or if the coolant temperature is around 200 degrees F at the fan switch (located on the thermostat housing) .
Leave the A/C off, disconnect the 2P connector to the fan switch, and jump the harness side connector with a piece of wire or small paper clip, then turn ignition to ON (II); both fans should run. Car does not have to be running.
If it doesn't run with the jumper, then it may be an issue with the wiring. If it does run with the jumper then issue may be (1) an air pocket in cooling system, (2) faulty fan switch, or (3) the coolant temperature at the fan switch is not at the threshold to close (e.g., 200 degrees F).
Relays are not an issue since both fans ran with A/C on.
