Icon5 99 Honda Accord 4 Cyl 1st Gear delayed shifting

Hi
I have a beater car 99 Honda accord 4 cyl with about 2K miles. The only problem it has is delayed shifting of 1st gear . It is both up and downshift and really hard like slamming with hammer.
I have changed fluid.
Checked Every solenoid which is working
No error codes .
Any help will be appreciated.

I would look for another tranny, sounds like you have a automatic.. they can be a nightmare to fix. First just check the leads from the shifting mechanism to the tranny to see if it is putting it into drive smoothly? And 2k miles is like new lol probably meant 200k...

What ATF did you use? If it wasn't Honda brand, the shift patterns will be funky.

Thanks for reply so it is not worth to replace trany. In that situation will wait till it stops working and junk it .

Stop by a tranny shop soon before more damage is done and just ask what their opinion is so your not paying anything. You may get lucky with someone more knowledgeable about autos and tell you what the problem could be. If it is a cheap repair and they are confident about a solution then try it. If it might cost over $500 then I would look around at scrap yards for a manual and swap it over before scrapping the car. That's just me though if I really cared about the car..

I have the same issue on my 2000 ex f23a1. How long does yours take to shift? Does hard or slow accelerating help it shift faster or smoother? What rpm does 1st wind out to and does it hold at an rpm for a certain amount of time before it shifts?
