2012 Crosstour 2.4L FWD 160K Miles - 5000 RPM limit
I now have a used 2012 Crosstour that runs well enough at 160K miles, but I have noticed it can't rev above 5000 RPMs. At around 5000 RPMs it just bails on going any higher, spec sheets indicate a max RPM of 7100. I'm running some Seafoam thru it right now using the standard 1oz to one gallon ratio. I don't know what kind of care this car had in its past life. This is my first Honda, if you all had any suggestions to help this K24YA engine out, I'd love some service tips. What would you start doing to help this thing out (plugs, coils, clean out oil paths, clean air flow devices?). I do have a ODB2 reader and Torge Pro if this helps at all. Thanks for sharing any service tips for this limited-edition Honda and breathing new life back into it. I'm not a bad shade tree mechanic, and thankfully there are a ton of Honda service videos out there, so hopefully I can look up any of your suggestions for getting into and around the engine. Thanks so much! ;-)

Check engine light on?
Are you attempting this while fully hot? Being an automatic you will need to have the accelerator pedal smashed to the floor to get full revs.

@Ryanthegreat1: No check engine lights, basically the engine seems to be running fine. It's just when I rev up the engine parked in my driveway it peters out when it gets up around 5000 RPM.
Thank you Ryan, I've got to run the car to Tallahassee tomorrow for some new tires, and while we have the wheels off I'll be checking all the brake pads and rotors ( it has a bit of a wobble during braking so I'm working my way thru that also ).
I'll be sure to press the car and see how high I can get the RPMs!
Cheers!

Indeed, during my drive today, I slowed down and dropped a few gears and leaned into some good acceleration and ran it up to 6.5K RPMs, no problem, it just took a minute. Thanks Ryan for pointing out the rev limiter while parked.
If anyone has any additional tips for things to check for general service on a 160K mile K24 engine please do let me know.
*New tires are on, new front rotors ( current ones are warped/burnt ), new brake pads for the front, and brake pads for the rear are on the way for me to install- along with a brake fluid tester. I'll find my old radiator fluid tester, or get a new one, to see if I need to flush the radiator.
