1999 Accord V6 automatic-How much power will the trans handle? Performance parts?
So usually I'm a Civic guy, but in the family, we have a 1999 Honda Accord 3.0 V6 EX-L with an automatic transmission. I searched but found only 4 cylinder results, nothing for the V6 automatic transmission. or not the question I have.
Does anyone know how much horsepower the 1999 V6 automatic transmission will handle when the engine is modified? Are there any aftermarket high performance parts available for the V6 automatic transmission, or companies that work on these transmissions to increase durability?
I’m assuming it won’t handle much more than stock HP, and there aren’t any performance parts available for the automatic transmission.

the impression I have always had is that these transmissions weren't really even all that good with stock power and tended to get over-worked easily. just hard driving on stock power can generate too much heat. as a default measure, I put a supplemental trans cooler on all of my Honda autos.
there are shift kits for the B7XA. I have no first hand experience driving with one installed.
If I were considering what you're talking about doing (...and I may one day) I would grab a spare trans from the junk yard and rebuild it along with the shift kit install. do all I could to get more power from the engine (quick and easy way would be a 100 shot of nitrous
) and see what breaks first. then drop that spare trans in and see how it does.

That points me in the right direction. I found a few shift kits from searching online, and some Heavy Duty torque converters. They weren’t companies I recognized though.
