92 Accord DX code 1 and 43
Hey everyone. I bought this car almost 2 months ago and have been fixing it since. It start out with just a code 43, it was also having an issue with the fuel pump when I would go up hill it would try to stall and if it got just below the fuel line it would stall. I replaced the fuel pump and that issue has been resolved. It had a pump that was too small for the housing in it and it wasn’t secured to the housing so it would float on top of the fuel when it got low enough 🥴.
After I did the fuel pump I also did the spark plugs and valve cover gasket and the valve and plug seals. This caused code 1 to pop up along with code 43.
I replaced the O2 sensor and code 43 disappeared but code 1 is still there in all of its glory.
Since then I have done the spark plug wires, cleaned the EGR valve, replaced the ignition coil and ran some fuel system cleaner through it, twice… and now code 43 is back.
I have also had some radiator issues, the coolant is not circulating like it should, and I’m not 100% sure if this could be causing some of the issues.
Symptoms include: rough start, rough idle that gets worse when warm, power loss, the exhaust smells very rich.
I have the thermostat, temperature sensor, and distributor cap on the way (should be here today actually) I already have the distributor rotor ready to be replaced with the cap as well. I also have a fuel filter, I haven’t changed it yet because the one in it looks brand new.
Please help! Thank you!
