D16y8 automatic into an automatic ef
So, I haven’t been able to find much info on automatics. I just bought a 1991 ef hatch that has an automatic transmission and a d15b2 engine. The transmission just went out. There’s a complete d16y8 with an automatic transmission already bolted up to it for $450. I plan to do a manual swap further down the road but I’m not very good at this stuff so I figure replacing my engine and trans with this automatic d16y8 is a big enough project for now. My question is, with an automatic d16y8 just bolt into my ef? Including all tranny mounts an everything? So I’ll just have to convert to obd2, use a d16y8 automatic ecu and I’m good? I just wanna make sure it’s a relatively easy job compared to say a b series manual swap. Thanks! Sorry for rambling
My bad... you don't need any cable conversion kit. Mis read. your auto.. it should bolt right in.
There's a decent page about the swap - d16y8 into crx si..
from what I've read you can use 88-91 si engine wiring harness, si distributor, si injectors (injector plugs need to be changed), resistor box, a auto p28 ecu, obd0 to obd1 conversion harness and then you can wire up the 4 wire oxygen sensor and use either the y8's map sensor or your stock one already in the car. There's probably a bunch of other ways to do it but this seems to be easy.
This is going obd1 instead of 2..
