Recently got a used 2002 Honda Civic LX 4D 4c 1.7L. Ive been driving it around and notice when i speed up or even sometimes when im at idle at a stop it will flicker the both headlights and the dash lights, its not a bad flickering and wont even notice sometimes. please help new to hondas thank you all in advance

 

Make sure the alternator bolts are secure. Common problem is that they become loose and cause electrical issue as it is a ground source. It can also fry the PCM if left too long.

 

There will be some dimming as the charging system switches in and out of fuel saving mode.

 

Check appropriate fuses for discolored/tarnished tabs , clean them up for good connection ,

 

Most likely the alternator, does the interior dome lights flicker as well? Mine flickered like this for a couple of weeks and eventually the tachometer lights died while on the highway but would come back. Buy a 12V cigarette voltmeter and check the voltage while it's driving, if the alternator is fine it should read ~14.5V while driving, mine was consistently about 11-12V. If it is the alternator replace it with an OEM Honda one or it will just go out again.
