Greetings, bought a Honda civic a few days ago (my first Honda) it has a strange misfire that begins at 2,000 rpms (on and off throttle) and carries on up through the rev range at certain points, pretty severe.
Have checked plugs and coils, all fine.
Next step would be to adjust the distributor,
nd then reattempt timing procedure if distributor adjustment fails to provide results.
The issue is I cannot find anything online about my specific ignition setup. The engine is a D16v1, it doesn't have the regular distributor system I am familiar with, instead the ignition cables run to a small what looks like vacuum case.
My question is how would I go about adjusting the ignition timing to try and eliminate the misfires? Does this model of motor control its ignition timing souly by using modifyers on the ECU or am I missing something? I have attached an image of the ignition cables and the contraption they run to, haven't seen anything like it so far on the Internet and don't want to speak to a mechanic about my problems as from my experience they have always pointed me in the wrong direction and caused me to waste money on parts that weren't even relevant.
Looking forward to your all important responses.
Thanks in advance.
