Default Scan tools?

I'm trying to figure out a good one to get. The Pine Hollow guy on you tube uses the Think tool, the problem with that is it needs a wifi connection I think every month or it won't work? Also I think after the free updates stop and if you don't pay for more, the Bi directional stops working?
Its like china wants to spy on you every month or so? So anyone have any good idea's? And please no cell phone stuff, that is as bad as what I mentioned above. Also I would like a direct wired connection to the OBD port, not wanting more RF in my face.

Autel has a few different HDS clones that are wired. They also have wireless options.

They come with a year of updates but continue to work without updates or a connection to the internet.

I forgot to add, I would like it to work out of the box with out a bunch of bs registering and joining a club so to say, you know kind of like when you just buy a regular code reader, plug and play no hassles.

Foxwell also has an HDS clone type scanner that seems to work well. I don't own one so I can't tell you if it as a connect to the internet and register first function.

Whatever you do stay away from the cheap Chinese ones. They connect just fine but wont read most parameters and are easy to cook.

Sorry I haven't been on this site in awhile. Where is the best place to get the autel?
Is it a special HDS clone or is it one that will work on other makes too?
I thought I read that Autel is the better of the bunch for US phone help etc.
The Pine Hollow guy seems to like that Think Tool, its the one I thought I saw that it needs to see the internet ever month or so.
And it doesn't have hardly any support??
