Yesterday I bought this 2000 Odyssey for $800. Has 216k miles on it. Transmission shifts a little rough from 1st to 2nd but it's not that bad. Sometimes I don't even really notice it.

I took it to the store and it wouldn't start up. Tried a couple more times and then decided to wait 5 minutes. Started up. Then this morning I was going down the highway doing about 55 and all of a sudden it shut off. Had to pull over right away. Gradually lost speed so it wasn't like I had to pull over within 50 feet. Tried starting up a couple times but then decided to wait 7 or 8 minutes. Then it started up. When I got to my destination I had shut the van off. When I went to start it after a few minutes of it sitting, it wouldn't start again. Like last time I waited about 7 or 8 minutes then it started.

When I got home I shut it off. Tried starting and it wouldn't start. Took it to Autozone last night because the check engine light was on so I wanted to see what the issue was. This was before any of those times happened of it not starting. I forget the code but he said it was a few things: catalytic converter, fuel pump, and/or something else. Couldn't remember.

The guy I bought it from did say something about the ignition and a wiring harness issue. Tried getting ahold of him but he's busy. Will try to get more information later.

Anyone have an idea what the problem is?

 

UPDATE: I put in a new fuel pump relay under the brake pedal. Issue seems to have gone away. Will update over the next several days in case someone else has the issue of intermittent starting and stalling.
