Default action clutch reviews

my clutch is slipping and causing boost creep on my set up (LSVtec built bottom end stock head) my tuner says i should be in the 500 hp range, but cant fully dyno till i fix my clutch
and my unknown clutch that the motor came with is slipping. thinking of going with a action clutch multi disk stage 4 but dont know if it will handle the power...
any reviews from ya, i would greatly appreciate.

There is a twin disk, and there is a stage 4, but they aren’t the same thing. The Stage 4 is a single disk clutch that might, just might handle 500HP, but I would recommend either the stage 5 or 6 for that power level. Or the twin disk, which can easily handle 500HP, but are expensive. One thing to note with the twin disk is the require a clutch pedal “stop” because the clutch travel is much shorter than a single disk clutch.
I’ve used two Action clutches before, one a long time ago in a turbo B18, but I forget which stage it was. I used it for daily driving for two years and it worked well, no slipping, a little bit of chattering, but no problems.
Then a Kevlar Action clutch in a K20 which was smooth engagement, no chattering, no slipping. Used it for probably 40,000 miles daily.
Now I’ve bought an Action Iron man for a turbo D series set up, but I haven’t used it yet. I went with it over the “stage” clutches or the twin disk because it seems somewhere in between.
I’d go with a stage 5, 6, iron man, or twin disk for your power level, not a stage four.

im thinking on going with a ACR-0640 action clutch. i still dont know if my manifold (1320 top mount) is the cause of the boost creep also. i actually changed the location of the wastegate and only have a 5# spring and still boost creeping to 20+ pounds. or maybe it can be both the clutch and manifold.

I just looked at that clutch (stage 5), and the stage 6, both say 200% increase inholding capacity over stock, but the stage 6 says it’s more for racing. So if you plan to race the car the stage 6 would be better. If your car is racing only, the the Iron Man is designed for that.
For the boost creep, your clutch slipping can’t be the cause of boost creep, although boost creep could make your clutch slip if you have a clutch not designed for that power level.
If you’ve already changed the wastegate position but still are getting boost creep, are you using a Tial or Turbosmart wastegate? Are you still using a 38mm wastegate, or do you have a larger one?

Reasons for boost creep:

Wastegate placement
Tuning
Spring too small for turbo size.

man I’ve done almost possibly everything to get rid of boost creep. I ordered my clutch and hopefully it’s in by friday(stage 5 multi disk action clutch) and going to recut the plug I put on my manifold and run both vs and tial wastegates with same pound springs. But yes my tial never regulated the boost. I did all springs and each one and nothing, not even with my boost controller or hondatas bbg. I’m running a 1320 top mount non ac compatible.

Where is your source for vaccuum/pressure that is going to the wastegate? Do you have a vaccuum manifold, is it straight from the intake manifold, or a tube straight from the turbo? Just wondering…maybe it’s clogged or there is a leak
Also, isn’t the Stage 5 Action clutch a single disk, not a multi disk?

I have a couple buddies sponsored by action and they run their twin disc clutches with no issues.

Action always got a bad rep on these boards but i havent seen one grenade yet.

hey im boosting my b series (built motor bigger fuel injectors tune intake n exhaust stage two clutch at the moment) this winter and i was wondering how much psi ur running w a stage five clutch. im tryna debate what stage clutch i should get. for context ive tracked this car, daily drive it but have a backup car. prolly make 240-270hp range rn but am not sure how much turbo is gonna add to that or how much holding capacity of a clutch i need to up to to support it.
