I found a rear center garnish that is in pretty good shape but the CIVIC logo is showing its age. I have acquired a replacement sticker and I would like to remove the old logo, buff the plastic to a nice shine and then apply the new sticker. The thing I have not figured out is how to remove the old logo. Does anyone here have experience with this. If not I would still be interested in ideas to try as well as what not to do. I don't want to screw up this old part. My usual go to methods of sticker removal are heat gun or acetone, but since this is a plastic part I don't think those are appropriate.
Search Etsy or eBay for "Civic special edition sticker" I have been looking for a spare center garnish since I got the sticker and finally found one. I don't want to alter my existing center garnish because it is in very good condition. I did manage to get the sticker off the spare center garnish. I applied heat via a wash cloth dipped in boiling water. That enabled me to limit the heat to around 200 degrees F. Then I used a plastic razor blade and it came off pretty easily. Today I will polish it up and if it looks good I will apply the sticker. I won't be using the "special edition" part of the sticker since my car did not have that originally. I assume this sticker won't last as long as the original sticker.

Not perfect but I think it is an improvement. The scratches are barely visible in person. I still have a good center garnish with the original sticker so I can swap them back and forth.
