I searched the forums and could not find my exact issue but please correct me if I'm wrong.

I noticed the RPM hand was all the way up to 4000 the other day while driving steadily at 65mph. And the engine smelled like something had just burned. It was a very sharp smell. I dont know somehow different than just burning. Anyway when I drive it now the RPM goes up way too fast and kind of acts crazy like the trans. isn't going to shift and then it finally drops down quickly just a little. I have not drove it much since because I'm scared to.

Last year I had the timing belt, water pump, adjuster, tensioner, etc replaced because the tensioner was bad. Never had a problem with that. The only other odd thing it is doing is the drivers side map light stays on all the time except when the door is closed even though the light is supposed to be off. The car has about 156,000 miles on it. And it is a 2012 Honda Accord V6 3.5L coupe. Any help would be so very appreciated!

 

When was the transmission fluid level last checked? Is it at the correct level and bright red? When was the last time the fluid was replaced?

 

I checked it not too long ago and it was over the correct amount. While the engine was cold it was above the Hot max level. It is pretty red and I don't know the last time it was replaced but it hasn't been since I bought it - about a 18 months ago.

I did forget to mention that there is this sound when I push on the accelerator that kind of sounds like fluttery air. It's hard to describe the sound.
