1.7 cam seal ring

The cam shaft plug seal by the EGR is a common problem . Has anyone replaced only the O-ring and not had a problem ?

You can get all kinds of O-rings for plumbing . I'm just wondering if anyone has done that , replace just the O-ring . Tell you what I'll do it on my 03 civic and see ..

A whole new cam seal is less than $12 USD... isn't your time more valuable than researching and locating the proper O-ring just to save a few dollars ?
