2000 Honda Accord v6 -> I4
Hey I was wondering how difficult of a swap this would be from the stock V6, if anyone has done it and what kind of cost the cost of doing it yourself would be.
basically I’ve had my 2000 accord for probably 15 years, it’s in great condition but it just started a tiny bottom end knock so I’m looking at my options. It’s pretty slow and doesn’t get great gas mileage, there’s no reason to keep it a v6 if the engine is on the way out

Your quickest and cheapest option is to swap in another V6 w/rebuilt transmission.
Going to an I4 is not going to gain you better MPG or more power. Any gains would not be worth the cost of the conversion.
Better off selling the car and buying a good running I4 Accord if that is what you want to run.

^^ This is what I was going to say.
There is no real K swap support for that chassis so you would have to go back to the H/F series platform of the 4 cylinder models. It might be feasible in a very niche case if you stumbled upon a complete wrecked 4 cylinder model and really wanted something to do. At the very least it would require cutting the engine mount brackets out of both cars and welding the 4 cylinder ones to your chassis, then swapping everything and probably lots of wiring too.
It would be much easier to replace the J30 or rebuild what you have but even if you do that the V6 transmissions are time bombs known for failure. Sounds like it might be time for a new ride.

I knew it was a bit of a far shot and it’s a bummer because outside of a little paint oxidation she’s in really great shape. And it’s already on the second transmission, that’s one of the biggest reasons I have 0 interest in the j30.
Well thank you guys for taking the time to reply. After checking on the value and everything it seems like it would be best just to drive her to death and junk yard it unfortunately. Maybe I’ll get a old civic or something as a daily in the future
