I have a 2018 CRV LX with the 1.5t awd cvt. The issue I’m having is the vehicle goes into reverse with no issues and functions as it should however the reverse lights don’t come on, the dash does not show that the vehicle is in reverse and the rear view camera doesn’t activate. I know in older vehicles the likely culprit would be the reverse light switch but these vehicles don’t seem to have this. Any ideas for what to check?
You can visually check to see if the wiring harness to the transmission range switch got damaged by rodent chew.
The transmission range switch is located on the transmission, under the air cleaner box on the driver's side.
If you don't see anything obvious, you would need a multi-meter to test for ground coming through the transmission range switch when the shifter is in the reverse position via a green wire.
Access to the Honda service manual and electrical troubleshooting manual would be necessary to know various wires, connectors, and component locations for testing with testing equipment like a multi-meter, if you don't visually see anything obvious. Honda does offer subscription based access to their manuals for 1 day or more.
