Another dash light issue thread. 2000 accord
Got a 2000 accord se 4cyl. The lights that illuminate the cluster do not turn on with the headlight switch. The light behind the odometer work. As do the check engine light and turn signals etc. But no lighting when the headlights are turned on. Fuses are all checked and good. Wiring is good. I've now used a second known cluster. What else could I check.
I don't know where the fuses are on the Accords far newer than mine, but that car may have several fuse boxes. Find the one that protects the dash. If that fuse is good, you might need to see if there is a relay, or more likely, a multiplex that has failed in relation to dimming and brightening those lights. The newer cars are more complicated and have different sorts of multiplex units that can go bad or fall asleep and cause problems.
Multiplex units are expensive. I believe mine was blown when I had a new stereo installed, because he didn't know NOT to connect the illumination wire on the stereo to the one on my car, a 2000 Accord EX. There are UTube videos that talk you through a cheap way to get the dash lights on by "jumping" two wires on the far left pigtail on the instrument cluster. I guess it works for others, but it didn't work for me. I'm not sure what to do next...
