Is this 1990 DA9 a good idea to buy, or too risky?
Hey guys I found an auto 1990 DA9 with 240k km/ 150k miles. The car has a salvage title as it was apparently stolen and is now missing the cat and stereo o(nly things wrong apparently). Guy was offering to part it out or sell the whole thing. He said it runs runs perfect and offered it for $1500 CAD. I am willing to overlook the salvage title and get it inspected. I also intend to manual swap it.
I really want a 2nd gen teg as a dd or project.
So here are my issues: The car is a 7 hour drive away from me. I can't just drive it back because of the salvage title. I could get it transported here on a flatdeck (the guy said he has a friend or I could find a transport service) but I would have to take the risk of not looking at it in person. I could drive out there, look at it, and get it delivered if I decide it's worth it but I would prefer not driving all the way just to pay for a driver to do the same. I could rent a flatdeck and borrow someone's truck to go out there myself, but what if I don't want it after I look at it?
I would really appreciate some advice on this situation. Here are photos of the car: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/13QAbyY-G1xdIyu0PeU0MIX2-QfGdPEEx I can can see next to no rust or damage and I'm in Canada. I would be happy if it was just a clean shell. Should I just walk away or worth the risk? Is it worth driving out there? Thanks in advance!

If you’re willing to take the risk, time, and money to replace the engine, transmission and a bunch of suspension parts.. then yes, it will be worth it. My da9 had all stock suspension, meaning I had to replace all the bushings because they were rotting for sitting so long in the garage. Did everything and spent the time and money on it, it was worth it to see it running.
