Timing a k24
Hey unfortunately my car has a stretched chain looks like the the cam gears are off a tooth or two when #1 piston is at tdc so I’m going to attempt a timing chain repair , I wrote down in steps how I was going to tackle the task just want to make sure I’m doing everything in the right order I’ve watch lots of videos on how to do it so I have a good idea of what’s going on i want to try to make it as simple as possible Jack car up and place on jack stands
Pull wheel off and cover for crank pulley
Pull off valve cover
Remove serpentine belt
Break crank pulley bolt loose then snug it up
Rotate engine to tdc
Remove tensioner cover
Rotate crank slightly counter clockwise to insert locking pin for tensioner rotate back to tdc
Break loose vtc actuator bolt if engine moves simply rotate engine back
Once engine is at tdc at the crank hold crank pulley with hand from rotating then remove bolt
Support engine with jack and piece of wood
Remove engine mount
Remove timing cover
Remove tensioner
Remove guides
Remove timing chain
Remove vtc actuator bolt with vtc actuator
Install new vtc make sure you can see the camshaft pin and it’s seated properly
Torque to 83ft lbs and lock the vtc actuator
Use adjustable wrench to rotate cam shafts and insert honda locking pins on pulse plates
Install the new timing chain accordingly coloured links will go on the markings on each sprocket
Install guides to help chain from jumping
Install new tensioner
Before pulling tensioner pin make sure all timing marks are perfect
Remove honda locking pins
Pull pin and install crank pulley
Rotate engine a few times to make sure all timing marks are where they are suppose to be
Remove crank pulley and install timing cover once areas are clean use gasket maker
Install motor mount and vtc solenoid
Install valve cover and spark plugs etc
Start the car up
