Complete mess of a car! ( Mount issues, and electrical)
Ok so I recently acquired a '00 Integra, and boy does it have some major problems. I spent most of the day getting the belts changed and completely rebuilding the shifter assembly after it fell apart while driving. During all that I discovered that the upper motor mount on the driver side was completely detached. one bolt broken in the block and the other two completely stripped. so i got to work making custom studs and inserting them to reattach at least 2 points on it. the broken bolt can be dealt with at a later time. due to the severity of that mount, and the bucking of the motor I inspected the other mounts. the rear mount bracket was detached besides loosely threaded at the actual mount and at the top bolt on the bracket, both lower ones to the transmission were missing. going forwards I find the front lower trans mount on the passenger side has the bushing completely pushed over the nut, bolts are tight but not pushing the bracket against the frame i suspect they are probably cross threaded. the bracket was also loosely connected to the trans by one bolt which I tightened for the time being. This concludes the mounts. It also appears that somebody swapped the vtec head off of the car for a non vtec one. I'm not entirely sure the implications of this performance wise, but I'm having some major dash issue, and figure that those are related to the 2 plugs that I assume went to the vtec assembly that now lay in the engine bay. symptoms are: Coolant gauge maxed, no / intermittent speedo and tachometer, inaccurate gas gauge (goes to full but empty's sooner than indicated.) Cruise control also doesn't work.
TLDR: all the engine mounts are messed up and the entire dash doesn't work. I got a basket case (knowingly) and am digging into it. My honda knowledge isnt great when it comes to modding so just gotta learn a few quirks.
Talking points / the actual questions for TLDR:
1. The front lower engine mount on the pass side may need Heli coils in the frame? or tapped to the next size up. is there a recommended way to do this so I can be prepared when I do it.
2. In the event of a vtec delete, what electrical work needs to be done? ECU swap / harness swap?
3. and thing else that the dash may sound like? grounds, relays etc? I have checked fuse boxes and will end up doing so again multiple times I feel.
4. best route for snapped bolt on driver side upper mount? i assumed this would require the engine to be removed but its always good to ask.
5. Anything else I should look for that is usually rigged on basket case cars?
Vehicle info:
2000 acura integra
b18b1 in the car, non vtec
original motor unknown, ECU installed unknown
2 plug vtec solenoid harness (i believe this indicated OBD1 which is why I put ecu unknown, as obd1 wouldn't have been on a 2000 year model car AFAIK)
If there are any articles on these topics that are pinned etc or that you know of a link would be very helpful, I skimmed through the FAQ section and didn't seem much pertaining, but ill be in there while I wait for some reply's so I may find something. Located in Central FL area if anyone localish wants to come help me and take a look. this is not my daily so not in a huge rush. but would like to daily it so kind of rushing. im no stranger to working on cars, but i find that each one has its niche way to work on it etc, so its best to ask a few questions before divining in.
