The snap rings from hell?? - Lost Motion Assembly
My LMAs are crusty and need to be replaced like right now. I have an extra set, I wanted to disassemble them so I can sand and clean the inside. I can't figure out how to remove these snap rings. I've tried like 10 different kinds of picks. They're just a basic wire ring, no way for a snap ring tool I don't think. Is there a trick I'm not aware off? It's a d16y8. Watch this video...

I'm currently soaking them in chemical for as long as i can then soaking them in oil but I don't think it will do much.

Cleaning them out does nothing for any internal parts that may be rusted inside the LMA's... rusty internal springs are potentially compromised and should be REPLACED. You are wasting your time trying to clean them up.
I don't know what that means, but if the metals are clean and shiny, it is unlikely that there is anything inside that would cause you any issue... if there is a lot of "crud build up" inside, I suppose this could cause some coil bind inside and create some operational issues. Lubricating them will be redundant... they are splatter lubricated during engine operation and the pocket that they sit in keeps some oil in them at all times.
