What automatic transmission engine will make my 2000 civic LX sedan to go faster?
I have a D16y8 engine in right now but I want to swap it out for something automatic with minimum rewiring, as in something I can legit slap in without any major things to do beside getting the engine in. Pleas help
Re: What automatic transmission engine will make my 2000 civic LX sedan to go faster?
Your post is a little confusing. You want to swap the engine and transmission, or just the transmission? Is it currently an automatic? The LX did not come with a D16y8 from the factory... sounds like it has already been swapped?
Re: What automatic transmission engine will make my 2000 civic LX sedan to go faster?
Yeah... OP, please clarify what you are trying to do here. Your post was very confusing.
If the engine is a D16Y8, the chassis came with a non-VTEC engine and the engine harness is very different than the one designed for a D16Y8. So, wiring is going to HAVE to be done. If this intimidates you, I suggest you seek professional help.
Re: What automatic transmission engine will make my 2000 civic LX sedan to go faster?
I think OP is saying he has a car with a D16Y8 engine and automatic (D-series) transmission, and that he wants to know what engines will easily swap in and mate up to the D-series automatic transmission that he has.
@Civic_boy_K - if you're wanting to keep the D-series auto transmission, you're going to have to stay with a D-series engine. Sticking with the D16Y8 engine that you already have is your best bet, as there aren't any other D-series engines that make enough additional power (in stock trim) to make the swap worth it.
