When I got it home plugged up a scanner and it showed 6 codes, and im currently at a lost on what would be the best choice of action

if the car is running, I would reset the codes and see what happens. If not runing then start with the simplest and cheapest repair first

 

Could be multiple problems. If this is a vehicle you just bought, maybe it sat long enough for the battery to go low. Low voltage will cause all sorts or weird codes. Write down the codes for reference and clear them out. Perform a battery test. If the battery is good, drive and see what codes return if the CEL comes back on.
