Default Fuel filter leak 95 civic

Okay we decided to change the fuel filter on my son's car we got the bottom pulled off and the the mounting bolt off the top bolt would not come off we got some PB Blaster and let it sit overnight finally got it off cuz they wrenched on it for like 2 hours could not budge it, now that we did that and got it off. there is a tiny leak around the bolt fitting so fuel coming out like a little drops. is there anything I can use to seal it cuz it's not budging any tighter the washers are on and everything's done correctly

Just so I can help you better...the banjo bolt wouldn't come out of the fuel filter housing threads? Right?

If the threads are jacked, just replace the filter. The fuel filters for an EG Civic are cheap, like a high end on Rock Auto is $20 and the low end is $3. (Advanced Auto has them between $30-40).

When you go back to reinstall, make sure you have the two washers and only tighten to the torque specs. Here, I'll give you the page out the FSM.

the new filter came with three washers so I put the two big ones on where they're supposed to go now we have like a little leak like a little drop when we turn it on now we can't tighten it anymore we tried like 10 different times

okay we put it back together all right the washers are in the correct position we just still have a tiny leak from where the bottom washer is right where the the fuel line is located and it's not the fuel line leaking it's leaking from the thread. Last night it took us a couple hours and we couldn't get the top bolt off we had to let it sit overnight with that PB Blaster stuff or whatever it's called and finally got it off this morning and then we put it all back together and had a huge leak when we first tried it and we got it down to a like a little drop still coming out but we can't get it any tighter

thanks for the diagram though

I think there is 3 washers did you get all 3 on like the diagram?

If any thing try another set of crush washers and torque the bolt to spec if possible, maybe you over tightened it.

yes we got three Crush washers we put them on correctly the tighter we screwed the smaller the leak so we tightened as much as we could it just won't go anymore so there's a itsy bitsy like Drop leak we're kind of figure out what kind of sealant we could just seal it with AutoZone said maybe J-B Weld with that would be permanent

Do not use JB weld. Get a new set of crush washers and try again. My experience is that the crush washers that come with most aftermarket filters are of poor quality.

Just try new washers shouldn't be hard at all! open the gas cap relieve the pressure and replace the washers, should only have a little fuel come out but use a rag to catch it.

I'll see what they wanna do. where do I get new washers the ones I used came with the new filter from AutoZone? and yea it's a easy process unless u have a leak we started off with a huge leak and just kept tightening it and it got smaller and smaller till we couldn't tighten anymore. now it's like a little drop if that leaking from the bottom seal of top bolt

You can try auto zone but i would just go to the dealership parts dept. and they can order them for you if they dont have them in stock. They usually keep things like that in stock or will have them delivered from a different dealership parts dept. Get a new bolt while your at it they are all cheap.

Agree - I would go to Honda and buy them or order them online from Majestic Honda.
