2008 Honda Civic - Aftermarket Stereo - Battery Dead Now
Hey folks! So I have a traditional parasitic power draw question. Or potentially a parasitic power draw.
I have a 2008 Honda Civic LX.
I installed the Scosche Double Din dash kit and an ATOTO F7 EX (with wireless carplay and android auto) head unit
I have used both a Sosche and Merta wiring harness - same problem is present.
I have triple checked my wiring (specifically the ACC and Constant wires)
I am using a crimped wiring connectors and they are taped so no wires crossing.
I do have an ATOTO dash cam that is not installed yet (weather) but has the wiring to the dash unit run since I had it out.
The problem is pretty standard. I installed everything - it all works fine - then I go to sleep and the battery is dead the next day. Interior lights (and even stereo) will work on ACC - just can't crank it.
I know the wiring is correct so now I'm trying to figure out what's my next step in determining if it may be a fuse issue or whatnot.
There's a *TON* of parasitic drain videos out there, but they all seem to focus on just figuring out the source.
I'm assuming (hopefully correctly) that since this did not happen at all until the day I installed my new stereo... that this is the problem.
I do have a multimeter (no alligator clips) and contactless voltage detector to help.
My initial hunches were:
Hmm ok I have the dash cam wires coming out with a bare wire (the reverse light wires that "trigger" the atoto) but it's not touching anything. Just laying on the back seat.
There's a wireless antenna... could that be doing something?
Maybe the constant wire is drawing too much power? But I mean... it'd have to be several amps worth to drain overnight right?
Kind of at a loss here. Thanks!

remove the wires to the accessories that you have tagged to your head unit wiring (dash cam, reverse signal etc.) and see if it is still doing the same
there is only 12v constant, 12v swtich to a head unit and i have yet to see a head unit kill a battery overnight

Hey thanks for the response! (And apologies for not updating this thread)
So, it definitely ended up just being the battery. It was just horribly coincidental timing. I didn't really remember any sign of it being on its way out. But when I tested the charge on a cold start it dipped to like 5 volts lol.
Got a new battery and we're all good!
