While diagnosing my cruise control switch as to why the "CRUISE" letters weren't lighting up when headlights are turned on, something happened :
I used a screwdriver to remove that tiny bulb on the back of the switch (I did so why it was still connected to the plug) and I got a tiny spark. Stupid me, I know. Now the switch won't light up at all, nor the the green light on the switch, the "CRUISE" letters, and the light on the cluster won't come on. Before it would work, it just wouldn't illuminate the "CRUISE" letters.
Could I really have fried my cruise module? Wouldn't a fuse blow before damaging the module?
This seems like a fuse but I checked all fuses and all are good, both under dash and under hood.
I ordered a used switch on ebay claiming it was in good working condition. It doesn't work. Not at all.
Can some circuitry within the switch go bad? It's just odd that I have two switches and both do not work, at all.
How can you test the switch and plug with a multimeter? I'm sure it's in the Honda Helms service manual but I don't have a copy. Anyone have a screen shot of this troubleshooting section?
