Power Steering squealing and grinding
The fluid for the power steering is empty because there is a leak. After driving it on empty i hear a squealing and grinding from the engine area. Is it the power steering pump thats the reason for this noise? Is it seizing up?
Probably dry that's for sure.
Remove the belt and keep the pump mounted. This way you are not turning the pump while driving. It will be a little tough to turn when going slow or backing out of a parking spot but wont be an issue. Get the leak fixed and fill it back up. Search for the method to remove the air from the lines when you fill it back up, Basically you turn engine on and turn the steering wheel all the way to both sides till you cant turn the wheel and repeat a few times with the cap off the reservoir then when done put the cap and top it off as necessary.
