just picked up a new/used cluster and put it in now the fuel gauge goes to full, is there a way im supposed to reset it? not sure what to do i dont wanna have to pay to have it fixed if i can figure it out.. plz help
When you turn the ignition switch to ON () or START (), it should show the proper fuel level. If the previous fuel gauge was working, then this used replacement may be faulty if it shows the fuel level at full, if it is not full.
If you still have the old cluster, you can try swapping out the fuel and temp assembly. It is #9 in the parts diagram.

Put your entire original gauge cluster back in and see if the fuel gauge works again. If so, then changing out #5 from your original gauge cluster into the new replacement one is the likely fix.

we tried that last night and it just goes to full very slowly within a minute. So idk we really haven't drove the car since we swapped clusters someone was saying we gotta cycle the car??
Try swapping the green electric film on the back of the original cluster to the new one.
Was the cluster from same year and model?
the cluster we got from the salvage yard was from the same make and model but different years in 93, I also put our original fuel gauge that works in this new cluster and it still didn't work so we put it back in the original cluster to see if it works still and it did the same **** so it's not working when we put it back on the original cluster, does that make sense, but I called a mechanic he says to cycle the car because we haven't drove it after we swapped it so he said to give it a week and see if it fixes it so we topped off the tank and drove it for a couple days so far now nothing yet, but the next thing is to swap the green thing on the back
If the fuel gauge isnt working rite will it make the car run bad? We swapped out there clusters because the speedometer was broke but now the fuel gauge don't work
