97 accord clutch safety switch help
If you don't want to repair the connector and wires, you can directly connect the two wires (Blu/Red and Blk/Grn) together, or wire in a different type of switch (like a toggle switch, etc.) to start the car. Power to the Blu/Red wire is only when the ignition switch is in the START position.
thanks for replying, I can re-wire them, but I de-pin connector completely, I don't know where the other end of blu/red wire connects to or into which connector, blk/grn should be ground wire?
The Blu/Red wire and the Blk/Grn wire are the two wires for the clutch interlock switch connector. You can connect those wire together near the connector, or add wire there to some a toggle switch, etc. This essentially bypasses the clutch interlock switch.
The Blu/Red wire comes from under-dash Fuse No. 9 (starter signal fuse). The Blk/Grn wire goes to both the starter cut relay and the ECM.
When the clutch pedal is depressed, the clutch interlock switch closes to allow power from fuse no. 9 through the interlock switch to feed the Blk/Grn wire.
Fuse No. 9 --> When ignition switch in START position --> power goes to clutch interlock switch --> when clutch is depressed, interlock switch closes to allow power through --> clutch starter relay & ECM
