Default Lost keys!

I only ever got 1 set of keys with my car and I've lost them!

Would it be easy to get replacements? Just trying to get an idea if this is a trivial problem, or a big problem..

I haven't called the dealer yet, still hoping that my keys will be recovered somehow.

Well, if someone stole them and they know where you live, your car is gone soon. If not, go to your local dealer with your registration and have them cut a key based on your vin.
good luck

Check with a locksmith. The 90's Hondas locksets shouldn't be hard for a locksmith to help you out.

I was able to buy all 4 keys for the ITR less than a year ago. Hopefully you can get the correct one cut. The gray "Integra Type R" keys were selling for $79 when I bought mine. The others were just regular Acura keys. $6-$25.

Thanks for the replies guys!

My car is an EUDM 98 model. I suspect it has an immobilizer (but really not sure). I'm just hoping I don't have to replace the whole immobiliser set and that if I have to do so, that the parts are still available.

Still keeping my fingers crossed for finding my lost keys.. but it's been over 10 days and they haven't turned up so I'm starting to give up hope.

I lost two keys to my 2001 BMW two weeks ago. No idea where they went. I had to go to the dealer to get a new one cut. Cost me close to $300.

Can you use a JDM ECU, or a chipped non-ITR ECU with an ITR basemap on it to bypass the immobilizer? Might be an option to consider as an alternative.

No immobilizer, but you will have to see if the dealer can cut a key based on vin since it is Euro.

I lost my keys a long time ago, got on face book and looked up a local lock smith on the parts page, guy came to the location, pulled out a blank key stuck it in the door lock wiggled it a little and started filing the marks, he repeated this for about 5 mins and boom the door opened and the key worked for ignition too!

It scared me how fast they can steal these cars any car really but that was done on my built Integra GSR and he did it FAST!..

I emailed the dealer and my car came with an immobilizer, but i don't have the red key, so i will have to replace the immobilizer unit as well. We will also have to figure out the logistics of getting the car to the shop. My car is in an underground garage and I doubt a flat bed will fit. I don't think I'll feel happy about the car being towed either. Hopefully the dealer can help work something out.

I guess I'll have to be careful next time and really should've made a spare key when I had the chance.

They managed to cut the key by VIN, so they could unlock the doors and didn't need to replace any locks. Supposedly, the immobilizer cannot be programmed without the red key. Since, I didn't have the red key, I had to replace that as well.

I just got the car back today. Now, I have 2 main keys + the red key. It was costly, but I'm glad it is all sorted out and it was great to be able to drive this car again.

So, lesson learnt- if you have only a single key, get it cloned ASAP. I believe they could've cloned my original key and I would not have had this problem.
