Default Integra Distrubtor Gear

Hello I am really hoping someone can ease my mind. I just replaced a 1998 Acura Integra LS Distributor and the "dog ears" on my Distributor gear broke off in my engine. I managed to grab one that was stuck in my cam but the other is still MIA. Should I go through the hassle of fishing for it or should I let it drop into my oil catch pan? I am a certified tech and of course the one Distributor I mess up is on my daily driver..... Please help. Thank you!

Pull the valve cover off and use a magnetic rod to try fishing it out. Or remove the cam caps and cam shafts ( this can be done with out touching the mechanical timing or timing belt slack ) just slip off the timing belt and fish around the top of the head for the broken piece hopefully you find it!
