Icon5 What is the SE trim???

Hello,

I have a 2000 Honda Civic that I bought recently and I'm having trouble figuring out the trim.

The car was manufactured in Canada and has SE (special edition) trim as indicated by its VIN and emblem on the trunk. It's an auto sedan too. What I'm wondering is what the SE trim is based off of? I've looked everywhere for info on specifically the special edition but there appears to be nothing! I read somewhere that the SE is just built off of the DX but the article only applied to the hatchback body.

Any help is appreciated!

I'm confident it's not based on the dx, se would be a trim in its own name. I think it includes all the best features from other models, it's called the special edition for a reason. Internet does say something like, "The Special Edition trim was developed in celebration of the Civic's 20-year sales dominance and is intended to build upon the nameplate's perfect marriage of styling, performance, and packaging". Se trim was developed in Canada, I don't think it's in the US at all. SE mostly applies to sedans but I'm not sure. You're lucky, I've never seen an SE in my life, send a picture of the badge?

(Plate is no longer in use obviously) You can see the emlem under the light. The privious owner painted over it but its still visible.

Have you tried to compare your car features to the other trim levels of that year?

It might help you pinpoint what extras or upgrades you got that the other trims didn't see. Also might look into the following years to see if any of those features became standard under other trim lines. This might indicate the SE was also used as a testing grounds trim.

Yes I have actually. It always comes down to something between an LX and DX.

While it has power locks like the LX would have, it doesnt have CC, power mirrors, power windows, sun roof, etc. like how a DX would be.

'00 VP trim was what we got in the US that year. It was a DX with keyless entry (hence power locks), standard air conditioning (DX and CX trims were all dealer installed from kits), body colored trim, and a CD player. It only came in a sedan. Might have been something similar for Canada.

You might have nailed it.. my SE has all that you listed. I guess its just a canadian version of the VP.
