With the 1stGen Civic site down with unstable admin. I thought I would start posting a little more content here. Just some old pictures from the 70s and 80s before these cars where out classed with the 88 and up Civic. On a side note some people think these cars are a better platform for performance than the 88+ because of the weight. They are wrong! Honda did learn a lot as they made cars over the years, both engines and suspension designs were drastically improved making a 300lb weight increase compared to the ED Civic a non issue. After messing with both platforms for decades, the later Civics are still the better choice for track days when built on most peoples budgets (low time and low money). Still the 70s civics are fun to mess with if you realize you are not going to be setting the track n fire compared to other cars and are comfortable getting passed.
Not SCCA but NZ Shellsport series. The 70s civics were not that popular there either but there was one that I found info on. It was later cut up for a B series power plant.
Thanks man, some really nice pictures! I recently got a 1st gen Civic and it's definitely not made for racing, lol. No more speeding tickets for me . Do you think the 1stGen forum will go back online some day? It's a shame it went down. I own a Volvo 360 and the community is way more active/way more info on the internet.
I really hope 1st gen civic doesn't come back online. The admin/owner is really unstable. He has shut the site down several times in the last few years, every time he wants attention or feels unloved. This last tantrum was the worst. He singled out a web developer that was trying to archive the site for others as his reason for shutting down the site. Zero maintenance on the site content wise means there was misinformation in there along with the good bits. I refused to put any more content there and have it held hostage a few years back. The most active group is on Facebook.

Sounds like a lot of drama.. such a shame as it doesn't matter if a post is posted in 2007 or 2021 with these kind of cars (except for the audio questions i had maybe..).
Thank you for showing me around a bit man, i've been driving for a week now and i really like it.
