Hey, im doing my first ever wheel bearing and hub assembly..
today i greased the outside of the wheel bearing (picture below) with red & tacky grease and pushed it into the steering knuckle successfully.
However.. is it dangerous to have put red and tacky grease on the outside of the bearing or is it actually good?
Should i go ahead and put red and tacky grease on the other side or should i just leave it as is with metal to metal contact

 

Won't hurt anything.
