B4RA A/T issues
Recent ran into a issue with my 2000 civic ex. I have a D16Y8 with the B4RA Automatic transmission (Non CVT).
Was driving home the other day and it was shifting normally until I went to accelerate on to the Onramp of the highway. It did the 1 to 2 shift just fine when into 3rd than acted like i put it into neutral and banged off the rev limiter. Car would not move in any of the gear selections ( D4 D3 2 or Reverse.)
Shutting the car off for a minute or two would allow me to move the car. During this time it would shift normally hit 4th gear and then go to a false neutral. Again shutting it off and waiting would allow me to drive normally. Acceleration wise it acted normal and would take off as it always did. if I slowed down and the proceeded to accelerate it would go into a false neutral.
Also driving it normally would result in it getting stuck in 2nd gear for a bit then going into a false neutral. I took all the connections to all the solenoids and cleaned them which allowed me to get home but then it started to throw the code p0740 (TRQ converter clutch failure/TC clutch system failure.) The thing is not making any odd noises aside from it not engaging overdrive when above 40 mph.
Checked the fluid level and it was slightly below the crosshatched area of the dipstick so I added a little less then half a quart of castroil import multi vehicle atf (searched and it was stated as ok for use in this darn thing) All my solenoids do click (tested with a power probe) and no blinking D4 light. Also tried service mode and no difference.
Car is shifting normally through all gears with no whining or grinding noises and it is not slipping or shifting hard either. Any advice would be appreciated. Already cleaned the screens of the top solenoids and am going to check the linear and other solenoids. Speed sensor is good as is turbine speed sensor.
