Is my Accord model rare?
Hello,
I have a 2006 Honda Accord coupe EX V6 3.0l w/ VTEC, which I know in itself isn’t rare. The thing is it has a 5 speed manual transmission. The only other 06 v6 manuals I can find are 6 speed. Is my car particularly rare? Is it possible the stock 6 speed was replaced at one point with a 5 speed? Why would someone do that?

You have a 4cyl with a V6 decal added to the trunk, or a 6-speed with a 5-speed shift ****. either scenario would have taken a few minutes and zero to not-many bucks to make happen.
It wouldn't be cheap or easy so I wouldn't count on it but adapter plates are available to bolt up a 5-speed from the 4cyl. the purpose is typically to allow for an AWD conversion. you can have a look and see if there is a 1/2" plate between the transmission and engine block or a driveshaft running to the rear axle.
search your VIN. that will tell you what you should have.

We’ll it’s definitely not the first scenario because it drives like a V6, I would’ve noticed immediately if it were a 4 cylinder. The second seems unlikely because wouldn’t reverse be 6th gear? I don’t have awd and the vin says it’s a 5 speed v6.
