96 accord lx auto trans downshift issue
Hello, I’ve done a bunch of research before I am making this thread. My car has an issue with downshifting only at 10mph. When I’m coasting at 10mph and I slightly push the gas pedal to increase speed after a turn or even after speed bumps, the car downshifts to first and revs up to like 2500 3000 rpm’s, then finally catches. So I did a trans fluid change just the other day used 2.5 quarts to fill it back up with Honda dw1. The car actually shifts better less harsh now it use to shift kind of hard which I heard was actually normal. It still does the downshift thing at 10 to 15 mph where it revs up in rpm then finally catches, it doesn’t rev up for long, it goes up to like I said 2500 or 3000 rpm (depending how light of throttle I give) then catches. I seen somewhere that there is an adjustment cable some say it’s called a kickdown some say tv, I’m not sure what the actually name is, but I tried to adjust it and it seems as if the threads are stripped on it, like the previous owner(s) had tampered with it before. It has a lot of slop in that cable, also another thing I noticed is that 2.5 quarts of fluid put me slightly over the hash marks on the trans fluid? Did I put the correct amount, also before I did the change, the fluid was above the hash marks as well. Does this have something to do with my issue as well? Or do I need to get a new cable and do the adjustment?
