Hello,

I just started having an intermittent problem with my 2009 SI. It's the k20z3 obviously. It has the VTC actuator rattle at startup which I intend on fixing. It just recently started doing a crazy thing that's concerning.
When I give it some gas and sort of dump the clutch it started really rattling then the oil pressure light came on. It stopped after a couple seconds and seemed fine after. It did this twice in the past couple months. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem. It being an intermittent problem I didn't know to look towards the oil pump or the timing chain and tensioner.

 

Update,

I poured bleach on the alternator and the noise stopped. The oil light is on all the time so now I just use the two step at every stop light. The muffler exploded so I clamed together a bunch of adapters from advanced auto parts to attach a muffler I got from summit racing. The UPS guy ran over the shrubs my wife had planted in the front yard. Now she's pissed. Thankfully Lowe's is having an end of the season sale on plants.
