So I recently replaced the positive battery cable and after replacing all the bolts and starter connections, I started the car and the starter didn’t stop grinding. Even after turning the car all the way off and dumping the clutch to stall it took about 8 seconds before all noise stopped

Does anyone know what could’ve caused this? Did the current from the starter connections jump or something?
